Melt Away
When I wrote Melt Away , I imagined a humid day in NYC. The sort of day where you’ve been walking around the city for as long as you can and escaping into an air-conditioned cafe for an iced latte is the ultimate reward. And in this case, the impromptu coffee run also turns into meeting someone unique in the crowded cafe. It’s like an episode of SATC meets a sweet Taylor Swift ballad. I had initially called it Cute Cafe (which shows up in the second verse) and after work-shopping it with Lisa Arreguin and hearing the band bring it to life with some rich beats, the title Melt Away seemed like a better fit. Like the person she meets at the cafe cuts through all the noise and business of the city and make her surroundings “melt away”.
